The Worst I have heard Yet!!

I have received allot of email because of this site and in that email I have received allot of stories.  I have enjoyed hearing from everybody and I encourage you to continue to post to the discussion group sending in your messages.  But I have to take a moment to share this story with you.  Of all of the stories I have heard this one is by far the worst I have heard yet.  If you think your appendix story was rough check out the following.  I have posted it only with the first person's name.  Thanks for sharing...  Larry

...Found your site and just had to respond. I live in North Carolina, but in January had to fly up to New Hampshire due to my father passing away suddenly. Had not been feeling well and thought I had the flu. At my father's wake, I started feeling badly and experiencing pain across the top of my abdomen, not a usual place for appendix pain. Asked my sister to take me to her home.  When I arrived, I started throwing up and continued to do so throughout the night. The next day she took me to the emergency room at the hospital where she works. They admitted me, but were not sure what was wrong with me. After two days of blood tests, x-rays, cat scans, and carious other tests, they thought I might have ruptured my appendix, but were still not sure until they did surgery on the third day. Apparently it had ruptured several (!) weeks previously, but as I had been on an antibiotic during that time, it had masked the symptoms. So for several weeks, I had a ruptured appendix pumping some mighty bad stuff into my body. I also developed an illus, a shutting down of a portion of my intestine due to what the appendix was doing to me. Bottom line is, that what is normally a few days stay in the hospital turned into a 19 day stay, 2 weeks of which was in ICU. Came closer to dying than I want to come for a VERY LONG time. Still moving mighty slowly due to still being weak and have little stamina, but each day seems to be a little better, so that makes me mighty happy when I compare that to the alternative of what could have happened.
